PERKINSTON – Jones County Junior College dropped a 7-2 decision to Mississippi Gulf Coast here Thursday afternoon in the opening match of the season for both schools.
JCJC picked up two wins in singles.

Diego Leal (Bucaramanga, Colombia) beat John Murphy in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 4-6 (7). JCJC's
Luke Armstrong (Hartfield Academy) beat Austin Moore in No. 5 singles, 7-6 (5) and 7-6 (7).
Travis Bell beat JCJC's
Jed Slover (Northeast Jones) in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0. In No. 3 singles, Noah Rowell beat
Chase Pennington (Madison-Ridgeland Academy), 7-6 (6), 7-5.
Noah Tippen downed
Jacob Bozeman (Brookhaven) in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-4 and Reid Cudd defeated
Brandon McCary (Wayne County), 6-4, 6-0, in No. 6 singles.
The Bulldogs swept the doubles' matches.
Bell and Murphy edged Leal and Pennington in No. 1 doubles, 8-6. Tippen and Rowell beat Armstrong and Slover in No. 2 doubles, 8-3. In No. 3 doubles, Cudd and Gage Switzer defeated Bozeman and McCary, 8-3.
JCJC will travel to Holmes on Tuesday in its next match.
MGCCC hosts Faulkner State (Alabama) on Tuesday.
