TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA – The No. 8 ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats fell to No. 2 Shelton State (Alabama), 103-81, here Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bobcats are now 6-2 with the loss. Both losses have been to Shelton State.
The game was tied 13-13 midway through the first quarter, but the Lady Bucs would take a 26-13 lead after the opening quarter. Shelton State led 51-35 at halftime and 76-56 after three quarters.
Nique Cherry (Heidelberg) had another 'double double' for JCJC with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Chrystal Ezechukwu (Stone Mountain, Georgia) also had a 'double double' with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Alexis Tolefree (Conway, Arkansas) had 15 points, Kira Bonner (Quitman) had 13 points, K.K. Tassin (Terry) had 11 points and Maya Jones (Northwest Rankin) had 3 points.
The Lady Bobcats' tournament games at Pensacola State (Florida) on Dec. 28-29 have been canceled. JCJC is working on playing at Bossier Parish Community College (Louisiana) in early January, but that has not been finalized.
The Lady Bucs are now 14-0 and will play in the South Georgia Tech Christmas Classic in Americus, Georgia, Dec. 29-31.
