No. 9 Lady Bobcats crush Coahoma, 106-57

ELLISVILLE – The 9th-rated Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats had little trouble in their 2017-18 season opener here Friday afternoon at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.
JCJC placed seven players in double figures and rolled to a 106-57 victory over Coahoma.
JCJC never trailed en route to the victory.
Leading 13-11 midway through the first quarter, the Lady Bobcats went on a 13-2 run and took a 26-13 lead when Breonca Ducksworth (West Jones) made a free throw with 48.4 seconds left in the quarter. JCJC was up 26-17 after the opening period.
JCJC's longest lead of the first half was 54-33 with 31 seconds showing when Camryn London (Birmingham, Alabama) scored off an offensive rebound. The Lady Bobcats were up 54-35 at halftime.
Jones used a 14-0 run to put the game away in the third quarter. Ducksworth's two free throws capped the run and gave the Lady Bobcats a 79-42 lead with 1:34 showing. Jones led 79-49 after three quarters.
JCJC's biggest lead of the game was 106-55 with 24.6 seconds remaining on a Jaresa Brooks' (North Forrest) basket.
Nique Cherry (Heidelberg) led the Lady Bobcats (1-0) with 21 points, while London added 17. Chrystal Ezechukwu (Stone Mountain, Georgia) and Zakyia Weathersby (Collins) added 14 points each, while Ducksworth and Brooks had 13 points each. Kira Bonner (Quitman) had 12.
Cherry had 15 rebounds, while Weathersby had 14 and Ezechukwu had 11. Ducksworth finished with 13 assists and three steals.
Walneika Holmes paced Coahoma (0-2), with 24 points.
JCJC visits Alabama Southern for a 5 p.m. Monday game.
Coahoma travels to Southwest on Monday.
