ELLISVILLE – Jones County Junior College had a tough battle with Southwest in women's soccer here Friday night at Bobcat Soccer Field.
But the Lady Bobcats prevailed.
Aimee Durn (Watford, England) rolled the ball into the net at 87:23 to lift JCJC to a 1-0 victory over the Lady Bears.
Mary Margaret Parker (Sacred Heart) got the assist.
Caroline Runion (Madison Central) played the second half in goal for JCJC and
Mia Holmes (Brandon) was in goal for the first half.
JCJC improves to 7-1-1 overall and remains in first place in the MACJC South Division at 5-0-1.
Southwest drops to 4-6 and 1-4.
It was "Sophomore Night" and the Lady Bobcats recognized sophomores Holmes, Runion,
Parker Welch (Brandon),
Judith Verdaguer Sanchez (Barcelona, Spain),
Carmin Childs (Oak Grove),
Angel Ryals (Brandon) and manager Lynlee Walters. The team also recognized trainer
Keela Boone, who will be leaving at the end of the fall semester.
The Lady Bobcats travel to Meridian for a 5 p.m. match on Tuesday.
Southwest visits Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday.
