MERIDIAN –
Mary Margaret Parker (Sacred Heart) scored in the 87
th minute to lift the Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats to a 2-1 victory over Meridian Community College here Tuesday evening.
The win clinches the MACJC South Division title for JCJC. The Lady Bobcats are now 8-1-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the division.
JCJC had to come from behind to post the win.
Celeste Boutwell scored for MCC in the 7
th minute to make it 1-0.
Parker scored off an assist by
Judith Verdaguer (Barcelona, Spain) in the 80
th minute to tie the game at 1-1.
Parker's game-winner came on assist by
Angel Ryals (Brandon).
Mia Holmes (Brandon) was in goal for the first half and
Caroline Runion (Madison Central) played the second half for JCJC.
The Lady Eagles are now 4-10-1 overall and 1-5 in division play.
JCJC plays at Mississippi College in a 3 p.m. scrimmage on Friday. The Lady Bobcats end the regular season on Oct. 17 at Pearl River. Meridian travels to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Friday.
The MACJC/Region 23 Tournament will be held Oct. 28-29 at the site of the North Division women's champion.
