ELLISVILLE – In a battle of MACJC division leaders, the 11
th-ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats came out on top.
Kelly Stubbington (London, England) scored four goals to lead the Lady Bobcats to a 5-0 victory over previously unbeaten East Central here Friday evening at Bobcat Soccer Field.
JCJC is now 8-1, while East Central is 9-1. The Lady Bobcats top the South Division at 5-0, while the Lady Warriors lead the North Division at 4-0.
Stubbington entered the game as the leading scorer in the MACJC and Region 23 and she ranks fifth in the NJCAA.
She scored at 3:01 and again at 11:34 when she scored on a
Mary Kate Smith (South Jones) assist.
In the second half, Smith assisted Stubbington again at 65:15 to make it 3-0. Stubbington's final goal came at 68:31.
Ashleigh Lewis (London, England) ended the scoring at 77:44 when
Marcie Napier (Laurel Christian School) assisted her.
Brittney Snyder (Biloxi) was in goal for the entire game and got the shutout. She was credited with four saves.
Kaitlyn Knuth was in goal for ECCC and had 11 saves.
The Lady Bobcats were credited with 32 shots, including 16 shots on goal. East Central had six shots and four shots on goal. JCJC had five corner kicks and the Lady Warriors had three.
The Lady Bobcats will travel to Southwest for a 2 p.m. match on Tuesday.
East Central visits Itawamba on Wednesday.
