FULTON – The 11
th-ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats blitzed Itawamba 8-0 here Wednesday afternoon at the ICC Soccer Field.
The Lady Bobcats improved to 7-1 on the season.
Kelly Stubbington (London, England) got the scoring started with a goal at 9:15 with
Mary Kate Smith (South Jones) on the assist.
Shannon Durkin (Barnsley, England) made it 2-0 at 20:35 off a
Mallori Rodrigue (Sacred Heart) assist. Smith's goal at 21:15 off an
Abbey Graham (West Jones) assist made it 3-0 and
Rachel McConnell (Portadown, Ireland) put the ball into the net off a pass by
Mattie Mills (South Pontotoc) at 24:10 to give Jones a 4-0 lead.
A well-executed corner kick by Smith to
Rylee Sullivan (Florence) at 35:06 would give the Lady Bobcats a 5-0 lead at intermission.
Stubbington would score at 59:11 off a Sullivan assist to make it 6-0. Rodrigue scored off a Stubbington assist at 68:00 and Durkin's goal off a Stubbington assist at 76:50 ended the scoring.
Caroline Runion (Madison Central) started in goal for JCJC and played 60 minutes, while
Mia Holmes (Brandon) played the final 30 minutes.
JCJC was credited with 38 shots and 21 shots on goal. ICC had six shots and three shots on goal.
The Lady Bobcats will host East Central at 5 p.m. Friday at Bobcat Soccer Field.
The Lady Indians, 3-5-2, are at Millsaps on Saturday.
