POPLARVILLE – The 11
th-rated Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats edged Pearl River, 2-1, here Tuesday at Wildcat Soccer Field.
Mary Kate Smith (South Jones) scored in the 18th minute to put Jones ahead, 1-0.
Pearl River's Lacey Polderman tied it in the 28th minute.
Shortly into the second half,
Kelly Stubbington (London, England) scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 47th minute.
Brittney Snyder (Biloxi) earned her first start in goal and had 10 saves for the Lady Bobcats. PRCC's Karsen Gildea ad four saves.
JCJC was credited with 13 shots and six shots on goal. Pearl River had 16 shots and 11 shots on goal.
Pearl River had five corner kicks, while JCJC had three.
The Lady Bobcats are now 6-0 overall and end the first half of MACJC South Division play at 5-0. Pearl River drops to 4-2 and 3-2.
The Lady Bobcats host 5th-ranked Tyler Junior College (Texas) at 6 p.m. Friday at Bobcat Soccer Field.
Pearl River visits East Central Friday.
