ELLISVILLE – The 13
th-ranked Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats downed Copiah-Lincoln 9-0 here Tuesday evening at Bobcat Soccer Field.
The JCJC women are now 5-0 overall, 4-0 in the MACJC South Division. Through five games, JCJC has outscored its opponents, 34-0.
Kelly Stubbington (London, England) scored an unassisted goal in the seventh minute.
Mary Kate Smith (South Jones) then scored on an
Angel Ryals assist in the eighth minute.
Shannon Durkin (Barnsley, England) was assisted by Smith in the 27
th minute and Smith's goal in the 31
st minute off an assist by Durkin gave JCJC a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Marcie Napier (Laurel Christian School) scored in the 53
rd minute off an assist by Smith.
Ashleigh Lewis (London, England) put the ball in the net with an assist by
Rylee Sullivan (Florence) in the 74
th minute to make it 6-0. Sullivan scored on a Stubbington assist in the 80
th minute.
It began raining in the final four minutes and JCJC added two more goals.
Durkin scored in the 88
th minute off an assist by
Abbey Graham (West Jones) and Stubbington ended the scoring in the 89
th minute off a Smith assist.
Mia Holmes (Brandon) started in goal for JCJC and played 30 minutes.
Caroline Runion (Madison Central) then played 30 minutes and
Brittney Snyder (Biloxi) finished up in goal.
JCJC travels to Pearl River for a 5 p.m. game on Friday.
Co-Lin falls to 0-6 overall, 0-4 in the division. The Lady Wolves host Southwest on Friday.
