MERIDIAN –
Kelly Stubbington scored twice and Jones County posted its fourth shutout of the season with a 3-0 win over Meridian Community College here Friday night at C.D. Smith Field.
Mia Holmes (Brandon) played the first half in goal for JCJC and
Caroline Runion (Madison Central) was in goal in the second half as the Lady Bobcats posted its fourth straight shutout to start the year. JCJC has outscored its opponents 21-0 through four games.
JCJC took a 1-0 lead in the 12
th minute
Kelly Stubbington (London, England) scored off an assist by
Mallori Rodrigue (Sacred Heart).
It stayed that way until the 54
th minute when Stubbington scored again via an assist by
Mary Kate Smith (South Jones).
The Lady Bobcats ended the scoring in the 80
th minute when
Ashleigh Lewis (London, England) put the ball in the net off an assist by
Rachel Martin (Oak Grove).
The Lady Bobcats are now 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the MACJC South Division.
Meridian falls to 2-2 and 2-1.
JCJC returns home on Tuesday to host Copiah-Lincoln in a 5 p.m. match at Bobcat Soccer Field.
Meridian hosts Pearl River on Tuesday.
