ELLISVILLE – Tuesday was a good day for the Jones County Junior College men's tennis team.
The 20
th-rated JCJC men's team edged No. 18 Mississippi Gulf Coast 5-4 here at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
The Bobcats are now 9-4, while MGCCC men fall to 10-2.
Mississippi Gulf Coast opened the match by taking two of the three doubles' matches, but JCJC came back to win four of the singles' matches and claim the victory.

Taqel Lewis and
Diego Leal beat MGCCC's Bryan Allen and Sam Blackburn in No. 1 doubles, 8-5. MGCCC's Noah Tippen and Brennan O'Keefe defeated
Chase Pennington and
Taylor Tamberg in No. 2 doubles, 8-2. In No. 3 doubles, MGCCC's Chris Diep and Brett Bowen downed
Luke Armstrong and
Josh Hester, 8-4.
Lewis whipped Allen in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Leal defeated Blackburn in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-1. Pennington downed Tippen in No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-4, and Tamberg downed Bowen in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 7-5.
Diep defeated Armstrong in No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-4, and O'Keefe beat Hester in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-1.
JCJC visits Hinds for a 2 p.m. match on April 7 and will host Itawamba at 2 p.m. on April 12.
MGCCC goes to Copiah-Lincoln on April 6 and hosts Meridian on April 11.
