FULTON – The No. 20 Jones County Junior College men's tennis team defeated Itawamba, 8-1, here Saturday.
The Bobcats improve to 8-4 on the year, while ICC falls to 3-6.
The Bobcats were impressive in rolling past ICC.
In No. 1 singles,
Taqel Lewis beat Mark Robbins, 6-3, 6-2. In No. 2 singles,
Diego Leal beat Brian Donnieal, 7-5, 6-1. In No. 3 singles,
Chase Pennington defeated Jacob Bozeman, 6-3, 6-2. In No. 5 singles,
Luke Armstrong downed Lane Brandon, 6-3, 6-4. In No. 6 singles,
Josh Hester whipped Cameron Shumpert, 6-2, 6-1.
ICC's Dexter Clay won No. 4 singles over
Taylor Tamberg, 6-3, 6-3.
The Bobcats swept the doubles' points.
Lewis and Leal defeated Robbins and Donnieal in No. 1 doubles, 8-3. Pennington and Tamberg beat Bozeman and Clay in No. 2 doubles, 8-3. Armstrong and Hester blanked Brandon and Shumpert in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
The Bobcats host Mississippi Gulf Coast at 2 p.m. on April 5 and travel to Hinds on April 7.
Itawamba goes to East Central on April 4 and to Northeast on April 6.
