NEW ALBANY – The Jones County Junior College men's tennis team whipped Northeast Mississippi, 9-0, here Friday at BNA Bank Park.
The Bobcats improve to 7-4 with the victory.
Taqel Lewis and
Diego Leal blanked Jesus Osorio and Landon Baswell in No. 1 doubles, 8-0.
Chase Pennington and
Taylor Tamberg defeated Jacob Prince and Payton Pearce in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Luke Armstrong and
Josh Hester downed Nathan Cleveland and Cade Scroggins in No. 3 doubles, 8-1.
Lewis shut out Osorio in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Leal beat Price in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Pennington blanked Cory Lindsey in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Tamberg downed Pearce, 6-2, 6-0, in No. 4 singles. Armstrong whipped Scroggins in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Hester defeated Cleveland in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
JCJC's
John Leggett beat Baswell in an extra match, 6-2, 6-1.
The Bobcats, now 7-4, travel to Itawamba for a 10:30 a.m. match on Saturday. JCJC hosts Mississippi Gulf Coast at 2 p.m. on Feb. 5 and travels to Hinds at 2 p.m. on Feb. 7.
Northeast, 0-10, goes to Northwest on April 4 and hosts Itawamba on April 6.
