No. 23 Bobcat netters lose close match to No. 19 Bulldogs

PERKINSTON – No. 23 Jones County lost a close match to No. 19 Mississippi Gulf Coast here Wednesday afternoon.
JCJC took two of the doubles points, but lost four of the singles matches, as they lost a 5-4 decision.
Both the Bobcats and Bulldogs are now 2-3 on the season.
JCJC's Diego Leal and Taqel Lewis won in No. 1 doubles over Skyler Flowers and Sam Blackburn, 8-3. JCJC's Luke Armstrong and Josh Hester took No. 3 doubles over Chris Diep and Brett Bowen, 8-3.
In No. 2 singles, Leal beat Blackburn, 1-6, 7-6 (6), 10-4. JCJC's Taylor Tamberg won No. 4 singles over Diep, 2-6, 6-3, 10-4.
MGCCC won the other matches.
Noah Tippen and Brennan O'Keefe defeated Chase Pennington and Tamberg in No. 2 doubles, 8-3,
Flowers beat Lewis in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Tippen defeated Pennington in No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Bowen downed Armstrong in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-1, and O'Keefe beat Hester in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
JCJC will not play again until March 16 when they travel to East Central.
MGCCC plays Northeast in New Albany on March 8.
