BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats overcame a sluggish first quarter and went on to defeat Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana) 90-69 here Saturday afternoon at the Bonne Sante Wellness Center.
The Lady Bobcats are now 6-1 and will host Coahoma at 4 p.m. on Monday. It will be JCJC's final game before the Christmas holiday break.
JCJC trailed 16-15 after the first quarter, but roared back to take a 43-28 halftime lead and led 73-49 after three quarters.
Myyah West (Prentiss) topped Jones with 18 points, while
Nique Cherry (Heidelberg) had 17 points and 13 rebounds.
K.K. Tassin (Terry) had 15 points and six assists, while
Tatyana Lofton (Madison-Ridgeland Academy) had 15 points and four assists.
Juliet Esadah (Warri, Nigeria) had 12 rebounds.
Rhomyia Tate led BRCC with 21 points. Pearl Jones added 19 and Ayliah Cooper had 11.
Baton Rouge falls to 2-9 and hosts Louisiana College Junior Varsity on Tuesday.
The Lady Bobcats defeated BRCC 96-46 on Nov. 15 in Ellisville.
