GOODMAN – Jones County Junior College rallied to beat Holmes Community College 81-79 here Monday night at Frank Branch Coliseum.
The Bobcats, 3-0, trailed 39-35 at halftime before coming back for the win.
Bruce Stevens (Bay Springs) led the Bobcats with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while
Rickey Holden (Laurel) had 15 points.
David Davis (Purvis) added 14 poinra and
Maurice Dunlap (Amanda Elzy) had 11.
Xavier Howard (Pearl) had 9,
Enrique Milton (Provine) had 6,
Tristin Walley (Hattiesburg) had 3, while
Leito Holloway (Charlotte, North Carolina) and
Marsellis Purvis (Brooklyn, New York) had 2 each.
Dunlap had 7 steals and 4 assists with Walley and Stevens also getting 4 assists.
JCJC was 26-of-54 from the field for 48 percent and 22-of-27 off the free throw line for 82 percent. The Bobcats had 10 turnovers.
Trevais Spencer had 21 points for Holmes, while Justin Johnson had 14 and Mikkel Norment added 11.
Holmes was 30-of-59 from the field for 51 percent and 11-of-16 from the foul line for 69 percent. The Bulldogs had 21 turnovers.
The Bobcats will be at home at A.B. Howard Gymnasium twice next week. They will face the William Carey University Junior Varsity at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 15 and will meet Itawamba on Nov. 17.
Holmes, 0-2, hosts the Spring Hill Junior Varsity on Nov. 15.
