WESSON – Eleventh-rated Jones County crushed Copiah-Lincoln 12-0 here Friday at Wolves Soccer Field.
The Lady Bobcats are now 12-1 oveall and 9-0 in the MACJC South Division. It was JCJC's 10th shutout of the season.
JCJC ends the regular season on Tuesday against Pearl River at Bobcat Soccer Field at 5 p.m. It will be "Sophomore Night" and all of the Lady Bobcat sophomores will be recognized after the women's game and before the men's game.
Ashleigh Lewis (London, England) had four goals and
Mary Kate Smith (South Jones) had three as JCJC cruised to its sixth straight victory.
Kelly Stubbington (London, England) assisted Lewis in the fourth minute and
Mattie Mills (South Pontotoc) scored off a Stubbington assist in the seventh minute and the rout was on.
Lewis was assisted by
Abbey Graham (West Jones) and Smith was then assisted by Mills to make it 4-0.
Shannon Durkin (Barnsley, England) then scored back-to-back goals with Mills and Smith, respectively, getting the assists to give the Lady Bobcats a 6-0 lead at halftime.
Lewis opened the second half with a goal. Smith then scored consecutive goals with Lewis and Mills being credited with assists to make it 9-0.
Rachel McConnell (Portadown, Ireland) then scored with
Parker Welch (Brandon) on the assist. Welch then assisted Lewis and Stubbington ended the scoring off a Durkin assist.
Mia Holmes (Brandon) played the entire game in goal for the Lady Bobcats.
The Lady Bobcats have clinched the division and will open play on Oct. 29 in the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament vs. an opponent to be determined. The tournament will be held at Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The Lady Wolves are now 0-14 overall and 0-9 in the division.
Co-Lin ends its season at Southwest on Tuesday.
