FULTON – Tatyana Lofton hit a shot at the buzzer to lift Jones County Junior College to a 60-58 decision over Itawamba Community College here Tuesday night at the Davis Event Center.
Earlier this season, Lofton made a game-winning 3-pointer in the final seconds to give JCJC a 58-57 win at Mississippi Gulf Coast.
It was the seventh straight victory for the Lady Bobcats as they improved to 9-2 on the season.
Itawamba had tied the game at 58-58 with 2.4 seconds left, but Lofton was able to convert the game-winner.
Lofton led JCJC with 15 points, while Zan Ratcliffe had 11, including a crucial 3-pointer late in the game. Hanah Lott had 10 points.
Wendion Bibbins finished with 11 rebounds and eight points, while Myyah West had six points and nine rebounds.
Alontra Tucker had 16 for ICC, while Erika Toney had 10 rebounds. Itawamba is now 9-3 on the season.
JCJC was 19-of-55 from the field (3-of-12 from 3-point range) for 34.5 percent. The Lady Bobcats were 19-of-27 from the free throw line.
ICC was 24-of-74 from the floor (3-of-12 from 3-point range) for 32.4 percent. ICC was only 7-of-19 from the foul line.
JCJC outrebounded Itawamba, 46-38. The Lady Bobcats turned the ball over 13 times, compared to 21 for ICC.
Itawamba had beaten JCJC 78-72 earlier this season in Ellisville.
The Lady Bobcats will host 20^th-ranked Copiah-Lincoln in an early season MACJC South Division showdown at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Co-Lin is 10-0 overall, 2-0 in league play, while JCJC is also 2-0 in the division.
