WESSON – The 17th-ranked Jones County Junior College men's tennis team defeated Copiah-Lincoln 6-3 here Tuesday afternoon.
The Bobcats are now 11-2 on the season.
JCJC won two of the doubles' points.
Graham Lightsey and
Eric Swisher defeated Dwain Perkins and William Pennington in No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
Robert Kiewit and
Josh Hester beat Brandon Nettles and Coleman Carraway in No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
Josiah Lim and
Austin Baskin lost to Co-Lin's Braxton Hinton and Drake Nelson in No. 2 doubles, 8-6.
Lim whipped Pennington in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Swisher edged Hinton in No. 3 singles, 6-7 (3), 6-2, 10-4. Baskin beat Nettles in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Hester blanked Carraway in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Lightsey was edged by Perkins in No. 1 singles, 7-6 (2), 7-5. Kiewit fell to Nelson in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 7-5.
Co-Lin is 6-4 on the season.
JCJC hosts Itawamba at 1 p.m. on Friday and Mississippi Gulf Coast at 2 p.m. on Monday to end the regular season. They will participate in the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament April 16-18 in Tupelo.
Co-Lin ends its regular season at Hinds on Thursday.
