17th-ranked JCJC defeats Holmes in men's tennis

GOODMAN – The 17th-rated Jones County Junior College men's tennis team defeated Holmes Community College 8-1 here Wednesday afternoon.
The Bobcats are now 10-2 on the year.
Graham Lightsey and Eric Swisher shut out Owen Taylor and Nick Robertson in No. 1 doubles, 8-0. Josiah Lim and Austin Baskin beat Dylan Throgmorton and Corey Warren in No. 2 doubles, 8-2. Robert Kiewit and Josh Hester blanked Sam Cain and Hunter Moore in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Lim beat Robertson 6-3, 6-0 in No. 2 singles, while Swisher blanked Moore in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Baskin whipped Warren in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Kiewit downed Justin Sawyer in No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and Hester defeated Cain in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Lightsey lost to Taylor in No. 1 singles, 6-7 (3), 6-1, 10-7.
The Bobcats are scheduled to travel to Itawamba for a 1 p.m. match on Friday. They go to Co-Lin on Tuesday.
Holmes visits East Central on April 9.
