ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College men's tennis team defeated Meridian Community 6-3 here Monday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
The JCJC men's team improved to 9-2 with the victory.
The Bobcats took five of the singles' points.
Josiah Lim defeated Chris Mallette in No. 2 singles, 6-4, 6-3.
Eric Swisher outlasted Judson Watson in No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-7 (6), 10-1.
Austin Baskin whipped Samuel Butler in No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-0.
Robert Kiewit downed Walt Harrington in No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-4.
Josh Hester whipped Sean Grice in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-1. MCC's Shane Trebisley defeated
Graham Lightsey in No. 1 singles, 6-0, 7-6 (4).
Lim and Baskin downed Watson and Butler in No. 2 doubles, 8-6.
Lightsey and Swisher fell to Trebisley and Mallette in No. 1 doubles, 9-7. Kiewit and Hester lost to Harrington and Grice in No. 3 doubles, 8-4.
JCJC's
Taylor Tamberg won two extra matches. He defeated D'Quante Evans, 8-0, and Reed Kasper, 8-5.
The Bobcats travel to Holmes for a 2 p.m. match on Wednesday and go to Itawamba for a 1 p.m. match on Friday.
Meridian hosts East Central on Thursday.
