ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College men's tennis team beat Copiah-Lincoln 7-2 here Friday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
The Bobcats improved to 6-1 with the victory.
The Bobcats got wins in No.'s 2 and 3 doubles.
Josiah Lim and
Austin Baskin beat Braxton Hinton and Drake Nelson in No. 2 doubles, 8-6.
Robert Kiewit and
Josh Hester whipped Brandon Nettles and Coleman Carraway in No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
Co-Lin's Dwain Perkins and Will Pennington edged
Graham Lightsey and
Eric Swisher in No. 1 doubles, 9-7.
Lim whipped Perkins 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 singles, while Swisher rallied past Hinton in No. 3 singles, 1-6, 6-3, 10-7. Baskin beat Nettles in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Kiewit downed Nelson in No. 5 singles, 7-5, 6-2. Hester edged Carraway in No. 6 singles, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Perkins beat Lightsey in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-4.
JCJC's
Taylor Tamberg won an extra match over Steve Del Cid, 6-4, 6-2.
The Co-Lin men are now 3-1.
The Bobcats go to Hinds for a 2 p.m. match on Monday and visit Mississippi Gulf Coast on Thursday. The next home match will be at 1 p.m. on March 27 vs. Holmes.
Co-Lin travels to Holmes on Wednesday.
