MERIDIAN – The Jones County Junior College men's team dropped a 6-3 decision to Oxford University of Emory (Georgia) here Saturday afternoon at the Northeast Tennis Courts.
JCJC won two of the doubles' points.
Josiah Lim and
Austin Baskin defeated Peter Higgins and Chris Giles in No. 2 doubles, 8-6.
Robert Kiewit and
Josh Hester beat Shams Sohani and Vignesh Sandaran 8-5 in No. 3 doubles.
In No. 1 doubles,
Graham Lightsey and
Eric Swisher lost to James Heaney and Ian Lu, 8-1.
Baskin recorded JCJC's only win in singles. He beat Giles, 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 in No. 4 singles.
Lightsey fell to Heaney 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 singles, Lim lost to Higgins 6-4, 6-2 in No. 2 singles and Swisher lost to Lu in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Kiewit fell to Sohania 6-3, 6-3 in No. 5 singles and Hester lost to Sandaran 7-6 (2), 6-3 in No. 6 singles.
In an extra match, JCJC's
Taylor Tamberg defeated Zach Yao, 6-2, 6-2.
The Bobcats return to action at 2 p.m. on Feb. 18 at home against Northeast Mississippi Community College.
