MERIDIAN – The Jones County Junior College men's tennis team improved to 4-1 with a 5-4 victory over Meridian Community College here Thursday afternoon at the Northeast Tennis Center.
The Bobcats won four of the singles' points.
Josiah Lim beat Chris Mallette in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Eric Swisher outlasted Judson Watson in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 10-7.
Austin Baskin downed Sam Butler in No. 4 singles, 7-5, 6-3.
Josh Hester blanked D'Quante Evans in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
MCC's Shane Trebisky blanked
Graham Lightsey 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles and
Robert Kiewit fell in a lengthy match to MCC's Walt Harrington in No. 5 singles, 6-3, 1-6, 11-9.
Kiewit and Hester beat Butler and Reed Kasper in No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
Lightsey and Swisher lost to Trebisky and Mallette in No. 1 doubles, 8-5. Lim and Baskin fell to Watson and Harrington in No. 2 doubles, 9-7.
In two extra matches, JCJC's
Taylor Tamberg beat Sean Grice, 6-2, 6-1 and then beat Kasper, 6-1, 6-1.

The Bobcat head to Itawamba for a 2 p.m. Monday match and host Holmes at 2 p.m. on March 5 in their final match before spring break.Meridian hosts Northeast Mississippi on Friday.
