ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College men's tennis team blanked East Central 9-0 here Tuesday afternoon at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
The Bobcats are now 3-1 on the season.
In No. 1 doubles,
Graham Lightsey and
Eric Swisher beat Juan Miranda and Robert Strong, 8-3.
Josiah Lim and
Austin Baskin downed Javon Yarbrough and Devin Skinner in No. 2 doubles, 8-4. In No. 3 doubles,
Robert Kiewit and
Josh Hester defeated Cole Duty and Alex Chapman, 8-3.
Lightsey downed Miranda in No. 1 singles, 6-3, 7-5. Lim whipped Yarbrough in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and Swisher defeated Duty in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-3. Baskin beat Strong 6-3, 6-1 in No. 4 singles, Kiewit defeated Skinner in No. 5 singles 6-3, 6-2 and Hester blanked Chapman in No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
JCJC's
Taylor Tamberg played two extra matches and won them both. He defeated Tyler Patrick 6-1, 6-1 and Eduardo Santillan, 6-1, 6-2.
JCJC is scheduled to play a 2 p.m. match at Meridian on Thursday and travel to Itawamba at 2 p.m. on Monday. Their final home match before spring break will be at 2 p.m. on March 5 vs. Holmes.
