ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats shutout the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers 9-0 here Wednesday on a cold, windy day at the Howard Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
JCJC is now 1-1 and will host Hinds at 2 p.m. on Thursday and entertain East Central at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
Northeast is now 1-1 and visits Mississippi Gulf Coast on Thursday.
JCJC was not threatened in the match.
Graham Lightsey and
Eric Swisher downed Payton Pearce and Roberto De Los Santos in No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
Josiah Lim and
Austin Baskin beat Adam Holley and Reid Price 8-4 in No. 2 doubles.
Robert Kiewit and
Josh Hester blanked Noah Wright and Wesley Tye in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Lightsey whipped Pearce 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles and Lim shutout De Los Santos 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles. Swisher defeated Holley in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 7-5 and Baskin defeated Price 6-2, 6-3 in No. 4 singles. Kiewit downed Wright 6-3, 6-1 in No. 5 singles and Hester whipped Tye 6-0, 6-2 in No. 6 singles.
