BOONEVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats had a remarkable rally here Tuesday night vs. Northeast Mississippi.
JCJC rallied from a 22-point deficit over the game's final 14 minutes and stunned the Tigers, 86-84, here at the Bonner Arnold Coliseum in the Northeast Mississippi Tipoff Tournament.
The game was tied 84-84 when the Tigers missed a shot with 13 seconds left. JCJC's
Maurice Dunlap grabbed the rebound.
After a timeout, the Bobcats got the ball to
Rickey Holden, who was fouled with 3.9 seconds left. He made both free throws to put the Bobcats up by two.
The Tigers threw the ball inbounds, but the next pass was stolen by
Tristin Walley at midcourt to secure the Bobcat victory.
The Bobcats trailed 48-36 at halftime and were down 72-50 with just less than 15 minutes remaining.
JCJC tied the game at 76-76 on a
Bruce Stevens' basket with 6:48 left and the game would be nip and tuck down the stretch.
Holden, a freshman from Laurel, led the Bobcats with 24 points.
Christian Robertson had 15, Stevens added 14 and Walley had 11.
Holden, Stevens and Walley each had seven rebounds, while Dunlap had six assists.
Leroy Buchanan had 20 points for the Tigers, Wesley Harris added 18 and Kendarius Smith had 12.
JCJC was 27-of-56 from the field, including 2-of-12 from behind the arc. The Bobcats were 30-of-42 from the free throw line.
The Tigers were 31-of-72 from the floor, including 9-of-25 from 3-point range. Northeast was 13-of-23 from the foul line.
The Tigers outrebounded JCJC, 44-37.
The Bobcats, 2-0, will host defending Region 23 champion Holmes at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at A.B. Howard Gymnasium. The game will air on

Northeast, 1-1, hosts the Bethel University (Tennessee) Junior Varsity on Nov. 10.
