Lady Bobcats fall to Pearl River in MACJC/Region 23 Tournament finals

RAYMOND – Jones County Junior College dropped a 3-1 decision to Pearl River Saturday morning in the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament championship game.
The game was played in a heavy downpour and muddy field conditions at Tom Shepherd Field on the campus of Hinds Community College.
PRCC took a 2-0 lead at halftime.
The Lady Wildcats got a goal from Lyndsey Lee at 14:33 and Kira Morrell at 40:45.
JCJC cut the lead in half at 54:22 on a penalty kick by Kelly Stubbington.
PRCC clinched the game in the final two minutes when Sarah Fortenberry scored at 88:20.
Holly Pike played the entire game in goal for JCJC.
The Lady Bobcats end the season with a 13-4 record.
The men's tournament championship game between Pearl River and Hinds was moved to Pearl High School's artificial turf field later Saturday afternoon because of the poor field conditions.
Pearl River, 15-1, will host Eastern Florida State College on either Nov. 6 or Nov. 7 in the NJCAA District H championship game. The winner advances to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament Nov. 16-21, which is the home of Eastern Florida.
