HATTIESBURG – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats are headed to the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament semifinals.
JCJC blanked Holmes Community College 4-0 here Tuesday night at D.I. Patrick Stadium on the Hattiesburg High School campus in a quarterfinal match. The game was moved from JCJC because of heavy rains and HHS has an artificial turf field.
The Lady Bobcats, 12-3, will now meet Hinds Community College in the semifinals on the HCC campus in Raymond. Pearl River will play East Central in the other semifinal contest.
Those matches are scheduled for Saturday, but could be moved up to Friday, pending the weather forecast.
In Tuesday's game,
Kelly Stubbington got the Lady Bobcats on the board at 23:18 with a goal on a free kick.
JCJC made it 2-0 when
Kelsey Hannaford scored at 68:55 off an assist by
Mattie Mills.
Rylee Sullivan then scored off an assist by
Blythe Griffin at 72:50.
Traci Monroe closed the scoring at 83:40 off a Stubbington assist.
Holly Pike was in goal for the entire game and had one save.
JCJC had 13 shots, 10 shots on goal. Holmes had two shots, including one on goal.
Holmes ends the season at 8-7-1.
