Lady Bobcats fall to unbeaten Co-Lin

WESSON – The Copiah-Lincoln Lady Wolves placed five players in double figures, as they remained unbeaten with a 91-74 victory over Jones County Junior College here Monday night at Mullen Gymnasium.
Co-Lin upped its record to 12-0 overall, 3-0 in the South Division with the victory.
The Lady Wolves pretty much led wire-to-wire. They were up 10-9 five minutes into the game, 30-23 with 6:45 left in the first half and 41-35 at halftime.
The Lady Wolves led by as many as 20 midway through the second half. JCJC trimmed the margin to 71-62 with just over seven minutes remaining before Co-Lin outscored them 20-12 the rest of the way.
Alyson Johnson had 17 points for the Lady Bobcats, 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the division. Terrica Williams added 14 and Kadie Parker had 10.
Toni Woods and Claresa Banks had 17 points each for Co-Lin. Alexis Collins added 13, Kelley Allen had 12 and Jamilah Sanders had 11.
JCJC was 27-of-60 from the field, including 4-of-14 from 3-point range, for 45 percent. The Lady Bobcats were 16-of-23 from the free throw line.
Co-Lin was 39-of-82 from the floor, including 5-of-19 from the 3-point line, for 48 percent. The Lady Wolves were 8-of-21 from the free throw line.
Each team had 44 rebounds, but the Lady Bobcats committed 28 turnovers, compared to just 17 for Co-Lin.
The Bobcats return home Thursday to face Pearl River in the "Catfight" on the hardwood. The women's game begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's contest at 7:30 p.m. and both games will air on www.jcjc.tv.
Co-Lin travels to East Central on Thursday.
