MONROEVILLE, Alabama – The Jones County Junior College Lady Bobcats won their fifth straight game with an 86-70 decision over Alabama Southern Community College here Monday afternoon.
JCJC returns home on Dec. 1 to face Coahoma. The game begins at 5:30 p.m. and will air on
www.jcjc.tv.
Alabama Southern travels to East Mississippi on Dec. 2.
Northeast Jones freshman
Jayda Simmons had a 'double-double' to pace JCJC. Simmons scored 10 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
NEJ sophomore
Kadie Parker had 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists, while New Hope freshman
Taylor Baudoin had 16 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals.
Alyson Johnson and
Terrica Williams had 10 points each, while
Aliyah Bell had 4 steals.
Jasmine McCants led Alabama Southern, 1-9, with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Lakeisha Pickens finished with 18 points and Jasman Hamilton had 14.
The game was tied 18-18 midway through the first half when Parker hit a 3-pointer to put JCJC ahead for good.
The Lady Bobcats led 43-34 at halftime, but ASCC pulled within 60-54 with less than 13 minutes to play. JCJC's longest lead was 86-68 in the final minute of play.
The Lady Bobcats were 32-of-90 from the field, including 5-of-16 from 3-point range, for 31.2 percent. JCJC was 17-of-32 from the foul line.
ASCC was 28-of-62 from the field, including 3-of-10 from 3-point range, for 42 percent. The Lady Eagles were 15-of-32 from the foul line.
JCJC outrebounded the Lady Eagles, 56-40.
The Lady Bobcats defeated ASCC 98-54 on Nov. 10.
