FULTON – Kadie Parker scored 23 points to lead Jones County Junior College to a 79-73 victory over Itawamba Community College here Thursday night .
JCJC's longest lead of the first half was at 19-13 with 9:02 left when Parker made a shot. The Lady Bobcats led 39-37 at halftime.
The Lady Bobcats ran the lead out to as much as 76-61 in the second half when
Jayda Simmons made a free throw with 5:17 left. ICC outscored JCJC 12-3 down the stretch.
Parker was 8-of-10 from the field, including a 6-of-6 effort from 2-point range, to spark the Lady Bobcats. Simmons finished with 14 points and
Starla Daggans had 11. Taylor Boudain had 9 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Jayla Chills had 22 points for ICC, while Kaelin Kneeland had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Alontra Tucker added 11 points.
The Lady Bobcats were 28-of-58 from the field, including 4-of-10 from 3-point range, for 50 percent. JCJC was 19-of-29 from the free throw line.
Itawamba was 26-of-62 from the floor, including 1-of-7 from beyond the arc, for 45.5 percent. The Lady Indians were 20-of-29 from the foul line.
ICC outrebounded JCJC, 37-31.
The Lady Bobcats are now 2-1, while the Lady Indians are also 2-1.
JCjC will travel to New Orleans to take on Delgado Community College at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The Bobcats return home on Nov. 20 with a 5:30 p.m. game vs. East Mississippi.
Itawamba visits Snead State Community College (Alabama) on Monday.
