Stephanie Smith begins her eighth year as the head athletic trainer at Jones College where she trains and cares for all 12 Bobcat teams.
She has been a certified athletic trainer for 18 years and is employed by Hattiesburg Clinic Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
Smith is also an instructor at Jones teaching First Aid and CPR and Personal and Community Health.Â
The Kosciusko native has provided services to Lumberton, Pearl River Central and Forrest County AHS as well as Pearl River Community College over the past two decades.Â
Smith is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), Mississippi Athletic Trainers' Association (MATA) and also an American Heart Association CPR instructor. She was named MATA's 2024-25 Collegiate Athletic Trainer of the Year in June.
Smith attended Holmes Community College where she was a member of the dance team, the HCC Dazzlers, played soccer for one year and began working as a student athletic trainer.
After junior college, she transferred to Southern Miss and attained a bachelor’s in athletic training in 2004 and her master's in exercise science with a concentration in sport psychology in 2023 from Pennsylvania Western University.Â
She is married to Jamie Smith and they have two children, John Louis, a junior at Ole Miss, and Avery, a freshman softball player at Holmes.
