Matt Lott

Sixteen-year coaching veteran Matt Lott joined the Bobcat coaching staff in April 2025 as the offensive line coach.

With four stops in the junior college ranks since 2009, over 200 of Lott's former players have gone on to play with four-year colleges. His OL has blocked for 14 running backs that transferred to FBS programs and he's coached 56 players to all-conference honors.

Lott spent the previous four seasons at Hinds on Larry Williams' staff as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach.

The Eagles went 9-3 his first season in 2021, beat No. 1 East Mississippi in the MACCC semifinals and played for the conference championship against Northwest. They'd earn a bowl berth and go on to play in the Salt City Bowl in Hutchinson, Kansas. That team finished second nationally with 37 rushing touchdowns and was 13th nationally in passing yards.

Lott's OL blocked for the No. 1-ranked JUCO running back in the 2022 class in Jeffery Pittman (Hinds/Mississippi State) who rushed for 1,865 yards and 33 touchdowns over two seasons. He also recruited, coached and developed the No. 1 ranked JUCO offensive tackle in America in the 2025 class in OT Saquon Miles (Hinds/MSU).

Lott coached the spring 2021 season at Navarro College (Texas). In his lone year with the team, the Bulldog offense led the NJCAA with 309 passing yards per game, ranked second in first downs per game (24.4) and fifth in total yards per game (462). The Bulldog offense also produced two NJCAA All-Americans, including the Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC) Offensive Player of the Year in Dodge Delozier.

Prior to Navarro, Lott was at Coahoma for four seasons, the first three years as offensive line coach and the last year as offensive coordinator. Lott coached seven all-conference offensive linemen while at Coahoma and his offense finished 12th in the NJCAA in passing.

Lott started his coaching career in 2009 as the offensive line coach at Independence (Kansas) Community College and spent seven seasons with the Pirates. His first three years he worked with the OL and his last four he was offensive coordinator and assistant head coach.

During his time at Independence, the offense broke several school records including rushing yards per game (425) and passing yards per game (454). In his first year as offensive coordinator, the Pirates improved scoring by 91 percent, total yards by 35 percent and passing touchdowns by 300 percent. Independence also had multiple years of finishing in the NJCAA Top 10 in rushing offense.

Lott played at Pearl River where he was a starter for two conference championship teams and the 2004 NJCAA National Championship (12-0) team. The Wildcats were a combined 22-1 in his two years. He was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019.

Lott earned NJCAA First Team All-America honors at offensive tackle, allowing just one sack for a Pearl River offense which led the nation in passing (301.4 ypg) and ranked sixth in total offense (439.0 ypg). A top student as well, Lott was a 2004 JC Gridwire Scholar All-America selection.

He then transferred to Baylor University where he lettered for two years and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Matt and his wife, Kaci, have three daughters, Poppi Grace, Willow Rae and Sunny Marie.
