Joel Cain

Joel Cain is in his fourth year as Executive Vice President of Student Affairs and 22nd overall at his alma mater. 

One of his top contributions to Jones College was the establishment of the JC Athletic Foundation in November 2023. The purpose of The Foundation is to support and enhance the athletic programs and facilities at Jones College, including educational enhancement. The Foundation engages in fundraising, community outreach and other initiatives to promote excellence in sports, foster student-athlete development and provide world-class athletic experience for the college community.

Jones hosted its first-ever Athletic Day of Giving in April 2025, pulling in nearly $100,000 for the foundation. 

Cain spent 2019-22 as the College's athletic director after serving as an assistant for three years under Katie Herrington.

He also served as Vice President of Advancement and Athletics, Dean of Students and Director of Sports Medicine previously. 

Jones had a cumulative 684-193 record, 13 conference championships, 11 NJCAA Region 23 Championships and two cheer national titles under his guidance.

Off the field, the Bobcats were equally as impressive.

Men's tennis was named a 2021-22 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year. Football, women's soccer and men's tennis were each named 2019-20 MACJC Academic Teams of the Year in their respective sports. Football was recognized as the 2018 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year.

Hundreds of student-athletes received academic recognition from the NJCAA, NFCA, United Soccer Coaches, MACCC and ABCA. 

Cain played football for the Bobcats and finished his collegiate career at UAB where he received his bachelors of art in education at Alabama-Birmingham and his masters of science at the University of Mississippi.

He is married to the former Wendy Walker of Mize.
