Bam Bryant

A veteran football coach in the state of Mississippi, Bam Bryant enters his first season as the Bobcats' offensive coordinator.

Bryant spent the last seven seasons at Mississippi Gulf Coast and previous two at Coahoma.

Bryant was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at MGCCC, units that shined under his leadership. 

MGCCC led the country in total yards-per-game (470) last season, was third in passing touchdowns (32), fifth in scoring (39.7 ppg) and 10th in yards per completion (13.9). JP Coulter was second in the nation in receiving touchdowns (11) and fourth in receiving yards (860). 

Prior to the start of the 2024 season, Bryant was awarded one of the NFL's Bill Walsh Fellowships and spent three weeks with the Pittsburgh Steelers assisting the coaching staff during training camp.  

MGCCC had the third-highest scoring team in the country (38.4 ppg) in 2023 and ranked fifth in total offense (445.8 ypg). Bulldog receivers helped Pat McQuaide lead the country in passing yards (2,730), yards-per-game (273) and touchdowns (24) during the 2022 season. Keymari Odum's 61 catches and 10 touchdowns led the NJCAA and were the third-most in school history.

Jalen Bracey finished 10th in the country with eight touchdowns in 2021, and in 2020, his 98.2 receiving yards-per-game was second in the nation. 

Quarterback Chance Lovertich set school records for completion percentage during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. The 2019 NJCAA national championship team ranked seventh in the country in total offense (440.6 ypg), with freshman wide receiver Jymetre Hester tied for third in the country with 10 touchdowns. 

The Bulldogs were a combined 53-13 in his time in Perkinston and won or shared the last six MACCC South Division championships.

Prior to MGCCC, Bryant coached at Coahoma where he served in a multitude of roles. He was wide receivers coach, passing game coordinator, co-special teams coordinator, recruiting coordinator and interim head coach across the 2016 and 2017 seasons. 

Other coaching stops include Delta State, Millsaps, Concord University and Southaven (MS) High School. 

Bryant played high school ball in Bartow, Florida, and continued his career at Upper Iowa and Arkansas in the early 2000s. 

He lettered twice in football and track & field for the Peacocks and earned the Most Valuable Athlete award. Bryant moved on to Arkansas and was part of the Razorbacks' 2002 SEC Western Division championship and Las Vegas, Cotton and Music City Bowl games.

Bryant earned his associate degree from Upper Iowa in 2000 and a bachelor's in human resource management from Arkansas in 2003.

Bryant and his wife Christina have four children: Braylon, Dallis, Landyn and Kennede, and two grandchildren, Skyler and Braylei.
