Carlos Castro

Carlos Castro is in his fourth year as an assistant coach at Jones County Junior College.
He works primarily with the hitters.
The Lady Bobcats have posted some impressive offensive numbers in Castro's three seasons at JCJC.
Last year, JCJC hit 72 home runs, which ranked eighth nationally, and had a team batting average of .337. Jones scored 439 runs, had a .533 slugging percentage and had a .405 on-base percentage.
Outfielder Kalyn Watts was named an NJCAA Division II first-team All-American after hitting .420 with 13 home runs, 50 RBIs, 81 runs scored and a .684 slugging percentage. She signed with Southeastern Louisiana University.
In 2015, the Lady Bobcats had a team batting average of .377 with 77 home runs, 349 runs scored, a .450 on-base percentage and a .625 slugging percentage. They were fifth in the nation in home runs and sixth in slugging percentage.
In 2014, JCJC posted a .413 team batting average with 70 home runs, 514 runs scored, a .504 on-base percentage and a .627 slugging percentage. They were second in the nation in team batting average and fourth in home runs.
JCJC has produced the NJCAA Division II Players of the Year in 2014-15.
In 2015, Lauren Holifield won the award. She hit .503, led the nation in home runs with 28, had 82 RBIs, had an on-base percentage of .513 and led the nation in slugging percentage with a 1.174 average.
In 2014, Tori Dew was named NJCAA Division II Player of the Year after hitting .602 with 20 home runs and 104 RBIS. She nearly won the “Triple Crown,” leading in batting average and RBIs and finished second in home runs by one roundtripper. She had a .665 on-base percentage and a 1.111 slugging percentage.
Both Dew and Holifield ended up signing with Southern Miss.
Castro is from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, and attended high school at Puerto Rico Baseball Academy.
