Anthony Maddox enters his seventh season as defensive line coach at Jones County Junior College.
Last season, he coached tackle Javon Kinlaw, whc was named an NCJAA Division I All-American. Kinlaw signed with South Carolina after his freshman season.
Maddox played at JCJC in 1997-98 and was a member of the Bobcats’ 12-0 national championship team in 1998. He later signed with Delta State University where he starred for the Fighting Okra in 2002-03. He was named the Gulf South Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2003. He was an All-GSC selection and was also named an All-American by the American Football Coaches Association.
He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2004 in the fourth round. He played two years for the Jaguars and three years for the Houston Texans before leaving the NFL.
Maddox established the Anthony Maddox Foundation in 2008. The Foundation is designed to benefit single parents and poverty-stricken youngsters.
Maddox and his wife, Deidre, reside in Hattiesburg. They have four children.
