Prior to Jones: Redshirted his true freshman season at McNeese.

High School: Played for head coach Guy Mistretta at Dutchtown (La.)...two-time All-District 5-5A, First Team All-Parish and Second Team All-State...All-District 5-5A Defensive MVP...over his prep career, he stuffed the stat sheet with 120 tackles, 41 tackles-for-loss and 24 sacks...credited with 63 tackles, 21 tackles-for-loss, 10 sacks and three forced fumbles his senior year...helped the Griffins to an 11-2 record and LHSAA Division I Non-Select semifinal appearance...East Defensive MVP in the Gridiron Football All-American Bowl Game.
