ELLISVILLE – Jones College has announced the hiring of
Alissa Horton as an assistant athletic trainer beginning in July 2026.
Horton, MS, LAT, ATC, begins her first full-time job and is employed by Hattiesburg Clinic Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. She will cover soccer primarily.
Horton is a previous track and cross country runner from high school, but now trains Olympic weightlifting as a hobby.
Originally from Florida, the now-Hattiesburg local earned her bachelor's in kinesiology in 2024 and her master's in athletic training from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2026.
She has completed clinical rotations with the USM football and baseball teams, Petal High School athletics and William Carey athletics.
Horton replaces Adam Butler who was named the College's Dean of Students.
