ELLISVILLE – The 13th-ranked Jones College Bobcats defeated No. 23 Southwest 8-1 here Tuesday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Tom Garrett (Australia) and
Juan Francisco Pereyra (Argentina) whipped Juan Luca Cividini and Juan Manuel Riano in No. 1 doubles, 8-1.
Ridge Jones (Northeast Jones) and
Felipe Morales (Ecuador) defeated Thomas Simpson and Manan Kumar in No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
Luke Westmoreland (Grenada) and
Ryan Roth (Resurrection Catholic) blanked Taylor Allen and Robert Read in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Garrett downed Cividini in No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-4. Pereyra rallied past Kumar in No. 2 singles, 4-6, 6-1, 10-5. Morales downed Riano in No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and Westmoreland whipped Beard in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Roth beat Allen in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
Nicholas Marengo (Forrest County AHS) lost in No. 6 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 0-1 (7-10) in No. 6 singles.
The Bobcats are now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the MACCC and will play at No. 18 Meridian at 11 a.m. on Friday.
