Matt Reed broke open a stalemate through 66 minutes and
Braden Buchanan added an 84th minute goal in a 2-0 win for No. 15 Jones over National Park College on Saturday.
Jones won its third straight match to improve to 3-2. NPC dropped to 2-2.
Reed's 27th minute penalty kick was saved but he got redemption nearly 40 minutes later when Buchanan found him in the box on a nice touch pass.
Buchanan got a goal of his own later in the match when
Kinson Smith played a long ball from midfield and Buchanan took it the rest of the way and beat the NPC keeper one-on-one.
Jones owned a 9-6 edge in shots-on-goal.
Brax Rials had four saves in the opening 45 and
Joshua Goodwin added two the final 45 and got the win.
Jones hosts No. 13 Gulf Coast Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. in a non-conference match.
