POPLARVILLE – It was a typical Jones-Pearl River men's soccer match Friday night.
Physical, exciting, drama-filled, you name it. And it ended in a 3-3 draw.
Matt Reed's penalty kick gave Jones a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute before an Oren Doxey free kick knotted the match at 1-1 into the half.
Emil Corfitzen's goal early second half gave the Wildcats their first lead.
Reed found
Braden Buchanan streaking down the left side of the field in the 82nd minute and Buchanan would take a defender on and then beat the keeper lower 90 for the equalizer.
Viktor Hammer's rocket-shot from nearly 30 yards out looked to seal a 3-2 win for PRCC in the 86th minute.
But Jones would draw a foul deep in Wildcat territory with a little over a minute left and have a chance to tie on a free kick.
Teryn Davis' shot was saved off the bar and
Amin Eltahir was in position to drill it home for the 3-3 tie and a big point on the road.
Jones out-shot PRCC 14-6. The teams combined for 31 fouls and seven yellow cards.
Jones is now 2-0-1 the last three in Poplarville.
The Bobcats host East Central on Friday, Oct. 3.
