ELLISVILLE – No. 9 Jones pulled away from a 1-0 halftime lead with four second-half goals and ran past Meridian Tuesday night, 5-1.
Jones extended its win streak to seven games in moving to 7-2 overall, 2-0 MACCC. Meridian fell to 4-3-3, 0-2-1.
Kinson Smith's 29th minute goal broke open the scoring and he'd add another in the 59th minute to make it 3-0 Cats.
After the Eagles' Matthew Todd headed in a 62nd minute goal to pull within 3-1, the Bobcats responded with
Braden Buchanan's goal and Dykes closed out a brace in the 84th minute.
Jones outshot Meridian 14-3.
Brax Rials had a save and clean 45-minute first half.
Joshua Goodwin played the final 45 and had a save and goal allowed.
Jones goes to No. 11 Pearl River on Friday, Sept. 26 for a 7 p.m. kick.
