No. 6 Bobcats post third clean sheet in four matches

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Sixth-ranked Jones College posted its third clean sheet in four matches on Tuesday night at the Memphis Sports & Events Center, blanking Southwestern Illinois 2-0.

The Bobcats improved to 3-0-1 and dropped SWIC to 0-2 on the young season.

Scoreless at the break, Katie Hennington's first collegiate goal came in the 67th minute and proved to be the game winner. Hennington scored from just inside the 18 when she found the ball in traffic and fired it top shelf.

A nice, long ball from Nadia Sobel found the feet of Sherline King in the 87th minute and King was able to beat the keeper lower corner for her fourth goal in four matches.

Sara Kate Jefcoat started and had three saves in the opening 45 minutes and Jennifer Huerzeler had six saves in the second half and got the win.

Jones owned a 15-10 shot advantage and 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Jones was scheduled to play National Park College on Saturday at noon in Ellisville, but the Nighthawks canceled the match.
