ELLISVILLE – No. 9 Jones extended its winning streak to 16 matches over Hinds, a dozen of those via shutout, in a 2-0 blanking Tuesday night at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
Jones improved to 4-1-1, 1-0 in the MACCC. Hinds fell to 3-1-1, 0-1 in conference play.
The Bobcats scored 56 seconds before the halftime horn, with
Katie Hennington taking a rebound from
Sherline King's shot and firing it past the Hinds keeper for her second goal of the year.
Both of Hennington's goals on the year are game-winners.
King scored her team-leading sixth goal in the 57th minute, using a nice ball in from
Tereza Perez and scoring in the lower corner for a 2-0 lead.
Jones outshot Hinds 26-5, including 13-2 on net.
Former Bobcat keeper
Gracyn White had 11 saves for Hinds.
Jennifer Huerzeler stopped the lone shot she faced.
Jones heads to Itawamba on Friday, Sept. 19 for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
