MERIDIAN – Jones College dominated Oxford-Emory 9-0 here Saturday at the Northeast Park Center.
Oxford-Emory is the eight-time defending NJCAA Division III champion.
The Bobcats only lost five games in singles.
In No. 1 singles,
Matias Ruiz (Argentina) defeated Daniel Bernard, 6-2, 6-0 and
Tom Garrett (Australia) blanked Colin Kinsey in No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Diego Castellanos (Bolivia) blanked Jerry He in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and
Alex Holder (Madison Central) whipped Ben Xi in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1. In No. 5 singles,
Ridge Jones (Northeast Jones) downed Nolan Ely, 6-0, 6-1 and
Luke Westmoreland (Grenada) beat Neeraj Madamalla in No. 6 singles, 6-1,6-0.
Ruiz and Garrett defeated Bernard and Xi in No. 1 doubles, 4-2, 4-1. Castellanos and Holder blanked Ely and He in No. 2 doubles, 4-0, 4-0 and
Reese Touchet (Madison Central) and Jones blanked Madamalla and Kinsey in No. 3 doubles, 4-0,4-0.
The Bobcats play exhibition matches at Mississippi College on Monday and at Delta State on Friday before hosting East Central in a regular match on Feb. 10.
