RIDGELAND – Jones got its revenge from their lone MACCC loss to Itawamba with a 1-0 victory Wednesday afternoon in the Gulf South District Semifinals at Freedom Ridge Park.
Stanley Georgiou's 31st minute goal was the only offense for either side, with
Mario Novaku's corner finding him on the back post for the eventual game-winner.
Jones had three shots for the match, all in the first half, and
Joshua Goodwin stopped the lone two he faced in the second half to preserve the 1-0 win.
Jones will face Hinds in the district final on Friday, Nov. 7 at 3:30 p.m. in Ridgeland.
The winner gets the automatic bid into the NJCAA Division II Tournament in Wichita, Kansas, Nov. 16-22.
