ELLISVILLE – All 10 Bobcat shots Friday night were on target, and four found the back of the net, as No. 7 Jones raced past No. 13 Pearl River, 4-1, to advance into the Region 23 semifinals at Holmes next week.
Jones improved to 11-4-2 and ended PRCC's season at 10-4-2.
The Bobcats face tournament host and second-ranked Holmes, Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 7 o'clock at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.
Mary Grace Batson's header off a
Magdalena Polrolniczak corner gave Jones a 1-0 lead 4:47 in Friday night.
The lead would hold through halftime until
Sherline King's first of two goals in the 52nd minute made it 2-0 Cats.
PRCC cut the deficit in half just two and a half minutes later when Addy Grace Alexander scored.
King and
Nadia Sobel would follow with goals in the 60th and 71st minutes to push the final out to 4-1.
King's brace gave her 48 career goals, one shy of tying Kelly Stubbington's career record.
Jones out-shot the Wildcats 10-4 and
Jennifer Huerzeler stopped three of the four shots she faced.
