PERKINSTON – Gracee Michini's 25th minute goal for No. 9 Gulf Coast was the eventual game-winner as the Bulldogs snapped a 12-match losing streak to No. 5 Jones Tuesday night at Barry Thrash Field.
MGCCC improved to 7-2 overall, 5-1 in the MACCC and dropped Jones to 7-2-2, 4-1-1.
Jones' last loss to the Bulldogs was back on Oct. 13, 2015, also a 1-0 defeat in Perkinston.
MGCCC outshot Jones 21-7 on the night and the Bobcats never really threatened. The Bulldogs also had two goals negated on offsides calls.
Michini's goal came thanks to a free kick from about 30 yards out that was played into the box, bounced off a defender's head and then found the flick of Michini over
Jennifer Huerzeler's head and into the top right corner.
Huerzeler was excellent on the night, stopping a season-high eight shots.
Jones' four shots on goal came from
Sofia Monico,
Magdalena Polrolniczak and
Sherline King. None gave MGCCC keeper Laurel Conley trouble.
The Bobcats have to have a short-term memory with No. 4 Holmes coming to Ellisville Friday night.
